“No Grass, Please!” is an ambitious attempt to rectify some of the mistakes made by Blue Fang and adapt Dinosaur Digs as much as possible to present-day science. It changes many of the dinosaur stats and behaviors, including biome stats, to make your dinosaur zoo appear more plausible and, hopefully, more true to life.

In addition, the mod aims to add a lot more dinosaur-themed and prehistoric-themed content to the game, from plant life to decorations, in order to create the definitive, be-all-and-end-all dinosaur zoo experience.

Features:

• All herbivores had their aggression levels toned down, as Blue Fang made all its dinosaurs extremely aggressive towards animals and humans alike.
• The biomes (and in some cases, the shelter needs) of all dinosaurs and Ice Age animals have been rewritten from scratch to resemble what, according to the paleontology of today, they may have looked like in real life.
• Most Dinosaur Digs animals received new sound effects.
• All Dinosaur Digs plants have had their time periods corrected, some core ZT plants reassigned to the Cretaceous period, and Ice Age plants have been reassigned to the core ZT category.
• Add a large selection of new fossil plants.
• Add some new Ice Age animals: Steppe Bison, Tarpan and Paracamelus.
• Add Iguanodon, Megalosaurus, Pterodactylus and Ichthyosaurus statues from the Crystal Palace.

Installation Instructions:

• Go into the Zoo Tycoon installation directory on your computer.
• Enter the “dlupdate” directory.
• Extract the file “NoGrassPlz.ztd” into the “dlupdate” directory.
  IMPORTANT! You must have the Complete Collection to enjoy everything this mod has to offer.

Repackaging Notice (by VND)

This is the repackaged version of “No Grass, Please!” v1.5 under the permission of the project leader, P. Rex. The mod was originally released at ModDB.com in 2015. The full gallery of the pack’s content can still be viewed there, including WIPs that were never finished. The original file is still available at its original hosting location at the time this entry was created.

The repackaged file only differs in that it includes split categorical files to accommodate requests within the ZT community to use only certain elements of the pack:

• Animal Hack: the attribute modifications and new sounds for the animals.
• Foliage & Cave Hack: time period corrections and filter changes for the plants, and increased capacity to the Ice Cave (undisclosed change in original description).
• New Foliage: all new custom plants made by P. Rex and Vondell.
• Steppe Mammals: Steppe Bison, Tarpan, and Paracamelus
• Victorian statues: Iguanodon, Megalosaurus, Pterodactylus and Ichthyosaurus statues

Known Issues

• Apatosaurus is still shown with its original habitat and preferred foliage, although its actual preferrence has been updated to match other dinosaurs of the Morisson Formation.
• Some animals still show their old preferred foliage icon. Test around with foliage matching their new terrain if they do not look so thrilled.
• The water lily and horsetail use their pre-MM attribute files, so they are no longer tankable.
• The new steppe mammals - Paracamelus, steppe bison, and tarpan - still use the original graphical assets (icon, plaque, colour palette) of the animals they are based on (instead of mirroring/cloning them like most mods based on original game assets) . Any changes to these graphical assets on the original animals will also reflect on them.
